Literature Text
Insomnia strikes
Restless under white duvet
Counting sheep useless.
Fractious night no rest
Ceiling so oppresive
Claustrophobic dark.
Soft breeze through curtain
Gentle breath of fresh air
Unaware sleep comes.

Literature
sleepy.
snow white:
fruit of my eye,
freezing blood in my veins.
poisoned, tachycardic; i fear
the end.
Literature
To Be a Poet
i.
I often find
Myself wondering,
Wondering if I
Am the proper person
To be a poet
The archetype:
Jaded, depressed
In love, heartbroken
But where am I?
ii.
Two things constant:
Love and loss
Capture minds and hearts,
Pushing for a glimpse
Through the window
I sit here,
Heart in front
Of me, a knife poised
Where do I cut
So that
The most beautiful
Words spurt into
The faces of readers,
Staining them forever?
iii.
To give my
Anger direction,
But at what?
The obvious answers:
My father,
The world,
What was, is
Or will be
iv.
Poet. Noun.
One who spills
Blood with ink.
Is that not enough?
Literature
A Closet Deep
They're not hiding they were forced
judgement worst
with mumbled retorts
quivering red lips sobbing
muffled rebuttals
It's your fault
for
being
you
that sickness
infecting
you
turn the tumblers of coal
they don't want the world to know
who you are
who you have been with
who you kissed women or men
some are forced in catacombs thick
for their closets are deposits
of
fear and shame
for the hand that closes the door
other hands will open them
for you
ones who warden you
Have already confined themselves to claustrophobic cells.
