*Winter Reflection*No clouds float on winter ocean
Cold ripples run towards shore
Horizon's dark line off in distance
Sharp sea smell, sadly summer no more.

Dank wet sand clings to boots
Hands in pockets keeping warm
Red nose so cold, inelegant drip
Away from warm fire was torn.

Fickle time does not wait
Weeks, months will surely pass
Winter season coldly fleeting
Momentarily will trespass.

*December Shadow*December sunlight slants low
Shadow follows where I go
Just ahead it walks like me
Silent companion like to see.

Turning we merge, becoming one
For short while it has gone
Mystery apparation surely mine
Shadow dependent on sunshine.

On dark days when all is drear
Particularly at this time of year
Walk alone, watch breath rise
Hands in pockets, muffled sigh.

Past summer haunts, all look cold
Silent shadow has desolved
Walking alone through winter street
Bright day needed so we can meet.

Eternity!Graveyard full, eternity waits
Departed souls face their fate
Flowers uplift, soothe primal fear
Struggle with eyes, falling tears.

Tears fall freely on mother earth
Her arms hold eternity, gentle berth
Hopeful souls lie dreaming deep
Firm belief faith will keep.

Keep us safe, forever and a day
Eternity then will have her way
Like a circle no beginning or end
With infinity we will blend.

When I was young this was told
Have found it to be very true
So pass that thought on to you.

'Absence makes  heart grow fonder'
'Straight as an arrow' I fly
Letters all tied with ribbon red
Treasured words so often read.

'Always look on the bright side'
life will surely cast net wide
Luminous thought uplifting light
Gloom and doom serious blight.

'love conquers all' so very true
Should its pain have wounded you
Balm of forgiveness, feelings appleased
Love heals hurt, wishing godspeed.

Flame from heart ablaze
Living life without asking why?
Instinct driven, there in gaze.

Flame burns, flickers, smoulders
Tempered not with regret
Eyelashes fan this endless flame
Impossible to forget

Tempest lingers on
Spume rises all around
Waves roaring angry song.

Eyes captivated by fuming sea
Ocean tossed, thunderous day
Feel so cold my clothes not warm
Still I want to stay.

Behind me sloping hills
Covered in groaning trees
Limbs break, crack, fall
Nature's might, feeling small.

No let-up storm persists
Between land and sea I stand
Oilskin needed, gale-force day
Frozen watch from land.

Halloween Fun!Party tonight, zombie fest
All arrived in festive vests
Lumbering walk, face so white
Halloween blast, what a sight.

Zombie manners, at their best
Waiting on their special guest
Count Dracula in scarlet cloak
From deathly sleep has awoke

Entourage of female friends
Calls for drink,  special blend.
Floor is cleared prepare to dance
Music supplied by 'Dead Romance'

Zombie cha cha, swoop and dip
Vampire elegance slightly hip
All beguiled as music plays
Halloween over, separate ways.

*Rock of Cashel* 'The Rock of Cashel' endured strife
Proud, ancient monastic retreat
Dedicated monks sought answers to life
High on hill near heaven's heartbeat.

Curious come and wander Cashel
Powerful magnet it does attract
Graves lay scattered in Celtic ground
Quietly listen, night silence has sound.

Rustling robes, rosary beads
Ghostly footsteps to chapel speed
Swept along in Celtic mist
Gregorian chant perfect bliss.

Their learning inspired, never forgot
Bones lay in  graves, past earthly rot
Should doubt arise in enquiring mind
'The Rock of Cashel' stood test of time.
With the Princess in her Glass CastleIn a snowball
out of time;
wandering the roads
of her shawl
and her hair,
paved with
wild cocoa and thyme,
I am searching
for a rescue,
not hers,
but mine.
Like the snowflake
looking for home
after its silent ball
in her stare.
*Carraroe*Carraroe where he once stood
Generates sense of mystery
Carnelian dawn on gentle ocean
Magical waves ripple endlessly.

With serenity he walked coral beach
Delighted at sense of unknown
Opalescent mist covered ocean
Incoming tide showed specks of foam.

Misty illusion, gosamer curtain
Where time forever stands still
Sense of the past slowly generated
Momentarily he lost his will.

Time is primeval in Carraroe
Where sea undulates on coral
Mist evaporated, beauty revealed
His heart and soul so gently healed.

The Gathering!Under cypress tree, before moon is high
Spirits gather one by one, hear collective sigh
Cemetery arisen, few short hours of bliss
Insubstantial dearly departed create ghostly mist.

Nebulous night walkers mean no harm
Our presence detected, they'll raise alarm
Collective reminiscence of what use to be
Distant past calls, no future they see.

World changed face, so many times
With trepidation from grave do climb
What is this? what is that? all impossibly new
Levitate, articulate they don't enjoy the view.

Underworld is their domain
Time has come and gone, no pain
Dreams don't invade, no tears to weep
Spirits consoled, eternal slee
Behold Beauty!Beauty around is all I see
Beholden to nature, her gift to me
Simple flower to great oak tree
Gaze in wonder on bended knee.

Meadow sways in gentle breeze
Poppies, buttercups, gentle heartsease
Weary soul by beauty appeased
Summer moment gladly seized.

Soft snow falling, iridescent light
Sky aglow, winter white
Rainfall through Celtic mist
Endless beauty, not to be missed.

Storm raging down by shore
Ocean tossed, howling more
Salt spray driven high in air
Sight of beauty there to share.

These are treasures, hold them dear
Nature's brilliance throughout year
Perfect performance, beauty behold
Close to heart as pleasure unfol

Bubbling Cauldron!Come with me into the wood
That was where old crone stood
Daughter of darkness, keeper of light
Fearsome looking, gruesome sight.

That very spot her cauldron stood
Ferocious bubbles on fire of wood
Bats, rats and crystal bright
Concoction brewed throughout night.

Incantations her specialty
Magical spells to put things right
Have been known to cause fatalities
Spots and warts may also blight.

'Midnight Blue' her black cat
Violet eyed, chases bats
Old crone loves her feline friend
Abracadabra she defends.

This account written down
So memory is kept alive
Crone and cat did here reside
Bubbling cauldron by their side.

Painful Experience!Love lost created heartbreak pain
Memories torment, constant refrain
Missing lover's familiar face
Time will not features erase.

Momentarily my laughter has died
Sadness created heartfelt sigh
I'm lost in maze, I've lost my place
Stay at home, just in case.

Slow walk in crowd, fevered look
Familiar face? no I mistook
Rain, shine, walk alone
Turn around, wait by phone.

Time rolls on, then one day
Skies turn blue, so come what may
Gloom lifted, return of smile
Painful experience, for short while.

*Fairytale*

Took a magic carpet ride
Full of excitment we did glide
Over sea to far off land
Where wizard with wave of hand
Showed us worlds of fantasy
Adventure and of mystery.

Went sailing on 'Spanish Main'
Treasure chest so tightly chained
Jolly Roger hauled up high
Prow of ship with beak and eye
Captain with a wooden leg
Swigging brandy from a keg.

Sinbad the sailor next to meet
Very kindly he did greet
Glad to show us his domain
Here we go.... to sea again
Ocean heaving, lost sea legs
In borrowed clothes, sailor threads.

Flew eastward sadly Aladdin was out
Rubbed the lamp, with major doubt
Genie erupted with ferocious shout
Aladdin had serious magical clout
Fright of my life, real freak-out!
Warts on my story begining to sprout.

Over the sea carpet glides
Back to house where I reside
Fairytale memories do abide
Dreaming deeply slither and slide
Fantastic moments here described
Cross my heart I have not lied.
